ABOUT ME & THIS SITE
My name is Bailey Stumbaugh. Born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, I am currently studying civil engineering at the University of Virginia. From a young age, I have had an interest in highways and traffic control, starting off with collecting license plates and eventually focusing on signals. In 2012, I came across an online forum of like-minded enthusiasts, and my knowledge expanded exponentially from there. Today, I am one of the largest traffic light collectors and historians in the country. I travel around the world documenting all of the old and rare traffic lights I find still hanging on the streets, preserving them through my photography before they are gone forever. While I occasionally go on dedicated signal photography trips around Virginia and its neighboring states, most of the photos here are what I find on the side while travelling for various other reasons. I built this website to share all of my pictures, collections, and information for anyone else with an interest in traffic signals to enjoy.
The current camera I use is a Canon PowerShot SX720 HS; it has great quality and zoom (40x optical and 120x digital) while still being able to fit in my pocket, which are two aspects most important for this type of photography. My previous camera was an SX700 HS, and before that was an A4000 IS. Please note that my photos are compressed by the host server when uploaded to this website; what you see on here is lower quality than the images actually are.

HOW TO USE PHOTO GALLERIES
SITE TERMS OF USE
Please abide by the following rules, so that this website can remain public:
(1) DO NOT attempt to contact, in any way, the municipalities, agencies, or individuals responsible for maintaining or associated with any of the signals documented on this site.
The primary purpose of this website is to PRESERVE old signals, NOT to accelerate their removal. Inquiring with a municipality about their old equipment, especially with the intent of acquiring it for personal gain, draws undue attention to the items and accomplishes precisely the latter. I provide the locations of the old and rare signals I have documented to the public entrusting that no one will attempt to "back-door" them or otherwise interfere with their normal operating life. If any historical signals are at risk for removal, please contact me below, and I will attempt to ensure that they are properly preserved if I have not already. If any signals are removed for private interests or stolen as a result of being posted on this site, this site will be taken down.
(2) DO NOT copy or use, for any reason, any of the photos, videos, graphics, or any other content on this site.
I have dedicated countless hours to producing, organizing, and displaying the photos and content you see here for the public to view for free. This media is my property. Any unauthorized use of my property is illegal. If you are interested in licensing any of my photos or videos, contact me below. If my photographs are stolen, this site will be taken down. Also, note that the images uploaded to this site are compressed, and are not shown in their full quality.
